Missionary work can be defined as indigenous church planting. But it can also involve economic development, elementary education, theology training, health care, Bible translating, and a variety of other activities that advance the cause of Christ.
Our missionaries are dedicated servants who fulfill the Great Commission through diverse ministries both in North America and other countries. We currently support 30 Global Outreach (GO) partners or agencies worldwide, including several in our community.
Locally, we partner with a single missionary who does Scripture presentations for teenagers on the books of Philippians and Colossians as well as a missionary couple who serve as directors of a Christian youth center. We also live out our vision for missions by supporting a host of individuals and families globally. Some of the many, varied ministries we embrace include:
Providing midwives, establishing schools, battling leprosy, and digging wells for refugees in southern Sudan
Reaching out to women in prostitution in Thailand, introducing them to Christ, and helping them find meaningful opportunities to support themselves financially
Integrating Russian refugees into area churches in inner New York City
Training undergraduate and graduate seminary students in the Philippines
Doing Bible translation and teaching people to read in Mali, West Africa
We also live out our vision for mission through engagement in short term GO projects/trips. An outreach in the summer of 2007 took more than 30 people from our church, including several families, to New Orleans to help with post Hurricane Katrina relief.
God is at work through GO at MorningStar. We would love for you to be a part of it in some way.
